In CISDI’s hands from start to finish - record-breaking new 3-roll cross tube mill for VALIN Hengyang

A new 3-roll cross tube mill with the largest calibre of its kind in China has been successfully hot commissioned at VALIN Hengyang’s steel plant in the Hunan Province.

The entire design, manufacture and assembly of the mill has been carried out by CISDI.

Full digital designs were applied, from conceptual design to modelling, product and component design and deliverable control.

Main products to be produced are seamless steel tubes for high-pressure boiler structures, fluid transportation, hydraulic posts, petroleum machinery processing, oil cylinders and crane arms.

By optimising the original process flow, Hengyang’s new mill will boost the production quality, cost effectiveness and profits of the entire rolling line.

Highlights are:

✔        CAE-based simulation software analyses critical components, alongside the CISDI-developed process control model, super-high-pressure hydraulic control for quick roll opening, alternating heavy-load stability control, and large-flow hydraulic retaining control technologies.

✔        Advanced pass design and setup systems enable parameters to set automatically.

✔        Digital designs and digital deliverable control ensures optimum, high-precision product quality.
