ASEAN’s first rotary hearth furnace breaks ground in Vietnam

CISDI is to build a rotary hearth furnace-based solid waste treatment line at Formosa Ha Tinh Steel in Vietnam.

CISDI’s RHF tech, equipment, standard and project management is a key part in making the ASEAN plant a success and represents China’s first export of this kind.

The line is being designed to be able to treat an annual total of 250,000 tonnes of Fe- and Zn-bearing dusts and OG-process sludges from FHS’s blast furnace and basic oxygen furnace plants. It will recover all iron, zinc and carbon elements.

It applies CISDI’s patented rotary hearth furnace to achieve waste-to-energy environmental and economic benefits.

15 CISDI RHFs are now in operation. They are accounting for around 80 per cent of the Chinese market share and are scoring a 100 per cent solid waste utilisation ratio.

Each year, about 3.50 million tonnes of Fe- and Zn-bearing dusts and sludges are disposed of by these RHFs.

Two million tonnes of metallic iron products and about 100,000 tonnes of zinc products are being recovered annually.

This transformative production reaps approximately US$ 140 million in economic returns.
