A blooming mill has successfully passed its first hot testing at Pangang Changcheng Special Steel in China.

The largest of its kind in China, the mill is part of a modification for a high-alloy special steel heavy bar and flat rolling line at the Sichuan Province steelworks.

CISDI supplied the core equipment at the line’s blooming area - the BDCD1350 Blooming Mill, hydraulic valve stands and front and back manipulators.

The blooming process is sophisticated and requires a large rolling deformation resistance and a high standard of equipment precision, capacity and stability.

The line will produce round bars (90-300mm diameter), squares (specification 150x150mm to 200x200mm), flats (specification 30-100mm x 330-730mm) and flats (specification 30 to 300mm x 310 to 710mm).

Steel grades will include carbon structural and alloy structural steels, martensite and austenite stainless steels, plastic die, coldwork and hotwork steels, plus tube blank steels.

These high-temperature alloyed bars and flats will be used for aerospace, heavy-duty gas turbine and marine machinery manufacturing.
