Jinxi’s rotary hearth furnace heralds green and economic returns

A rotary hearth furnace has been dried out at Jinxi New Materials Tech Co in China’s Hebei Province.

Built by CISDI Thermal and Environmental Engineering Co to an EPC mode, it will treat around 250,000 tonnes of solid wastes and produce 123,000 tonnes of metallised pallets and 53,000 tonnes of metal powder balls a year.

The furnace is already creating environmental and economic benefits for Jinxi, thanks to the green, efficient Zn- and Fe-laden solid waste treatment solutions CISDI has applied to the plant’s RHF, its 60,000tpy final powder cold briquetting and treatment line.

The RHF-based tech cluster has prioritised treatment on dusts from the blast furnace’s bag filter cleaning and its gravity dust catcher, and from the BOF’s secondary and tertiary cleaning systems, which contain copious quantities of zinc. It also treats dusts from the BOF’s primary cleaning system.

CISDI Thermal’s green solutions are achieving best-practice for Jinxi’s recycling and reutilisation of zinc and iron resources. All zinc from dusts is efficiently removed and the furnace produces metallised pellets containing high-grade iron.

A letter of thanks from Jinxi spoke highly of CISDI Thermal’s contribution to the project’s civil construction, equipment installation and commissioning.

“Thanks to CISDI’s expertise, attention to detail and management, the RHF drying date was achieved almost 50 days ahead of schedule. The team was on the construction site daily to ensure co-ordination and problem-solve.”
