Anyang Steel Zhoukou has accepted all inspection results for a hot segmented shear unit manufactured at CISDI Equipment Co in Chongqing.
The shear will operate at Zhoukou’s 5,500mm heavy plate rolling line in China’s Henan Province.
Critical equipment inspection of the shear’s manufacturing process data, mechanism functions and testing parameters was conducted successfully, in the presence of the customer and manufacturer.
The first of its kind in the world, the 300-tonne unit is 19.7 metres long and 8.5 metres high and features a hydraulic down-and-up cut hot shear. It cuts an ultra-long steel plate into shorter sections by moving its top blades downwards, while its lower blades remain stationary.
The shear consists of a shear proper, a blade-changing unit, swinging rollers and onboard piping, staircases and a platform. It is capable of cutting under-40mm steel plates. The cut plates will be equal to or shorter in length to the line’s cooling bed width.
CISDI Equipment’s team had just four months to complete its design and manufacturing.
In-depth studies were carried out on early-stage welding, internal structure water sealing, heavy structure machining, core component precisions and assembly testing.
This prior research led to the formulation of specialised solutions which, coupled with a careful scheduling of human resources for designing, machining and manufacturing, meant the project ran without any time delays.
