CISDI intelligence reaping big energy savings for Ningbo Steel

CISDI’s
intelligent energy conservation model is enabling Ningbo Steel’s HSM descaling
system to make substantial energy savings.
It works in
conjunction with the basic automation system for intelligent control of the
descaling frequency-conversion pump.
Ningbo Steel’s
HSM had been installed with five descaling pumps - three operational and two on
standby. The pumps had been working with a line frequency and were generating
substantial power loss during the roll change and rolling idle time.
CISDI upgraded
one of the constant-frequency high-pressure water descaling pumps to a
frequency-conversion pump.
The automation
model can automatically calculate parameters and formulate an accurate
operation mode for the descaling pump by combining the PDI data, rolling
schedule and strip speed and tracking the strip positions.
During a
month-long pilot run, electricity consumption per tonne of steel was reduced by
4.9kWh, a remarkable economic benefit. Compared with last year’s average
monthly, peak month and leanest month data, usage was down by 43.36%, 56.76%
and 26.44%, respectively.
The application
at Ningbo adds another successful energy-saving renovation reference to CISDI’s
achievement record. The new production development platform, quality analysis
system and other intelligent hot mill core products have previously been used
by Yanshan Steel and at other plants.
