Rizhao Meltshop’s BOF3 hot commissioned
Blast furnace three at Shandong Steel‘s Rizhao Meltshop
has produced liquid steel for the first time.
The furnace was successfully hot commissioned two months
ahead of schedule and has produced its first heat of qualified liquid steel to
designated standards.
The meltshop has been built in two stages, with Phase One
started up at the end of 2018. Four KR hot metal desulphurisation units have
been installed, along with four 210-tonne BOFs, two dual-duty-position LFs and
utilities.
Successful hot-commissioning of Phase Two has laid a
solid foundation for a full-plant start-up of Rizhao’s prime products base.
CISDI’s construction schedule and build quality have been
praised by Shandong Steel.
Fact file
CISDI has now
undertaken two EPC-based projects for Shandong Steel Rizhao - its meltshop main
systems and two 300,000-cubic-metre blast furnace gas holders.
To assist at
Rizhao, a prime example of China’s acceleration in steel industry
restructuring, CISDI calculated the optimised steel manufacturing process flow
and total technology solutions. Comprehensive studies were carried out on the
process route, technical specification, equipment type and sizing and general
layout.
The optimised
general layout delved into the mass flow, energy flow and information flow, and
their tracks and regularities. This created
more channels for
implementing intelligent operation and control, resulting in the best
economic returns and a great reduction of OPEX.
