Masteel has started construction of ten new silos in the south of its coking plant.
This is the second phase of development at the plant. Phase I created 10 coal silos, which have been operating since December. Phase II silos will start up in May 2021.
New silos are critical in the creation of a greener and modernised urban steelworks and in enabling Maanshan Steel to better meet HSE standards.
The silos will create tangible environmental, economic and social benefits, improving the plant’s intelligent manufacturing and enhancing coal proportioning accuracy.
Tar residue and biochemical sludge generated from the coking process will be recycled and outdated and energy-inefficient equipment will be replaced.
