CISDI is to upgrade Chongqing Steel’s bar and wire-rod rolling lines.
The upgraded bar rolling line will produce 1.80 million tonnes of 400-600MPa high-strength bars with specifications ranging from φ16mm to φ50mm. Its rolling speed will be a guaranteed 24 metres a second.
The revamped wire-rod rolling line will produce 900,000 tonnes of 400-600MPa high-strength ribbed coils, high-carbon, cold heading and spring coils. Its guaranteed rolling speed will be 115 metres a second.
The lines will be fitted with a number of CISDI’s core tech developments and equipment:
• Groove-less rolling
• Single pass rolling
• Centralised control
• High-precision closed-loop water cooling
• TMCP
• NHCD short-stress path rolling mill
• CDMC standardised high-speed modular mill
• FSCD flying shears
• 2-split high-speed charging onto the cooling bed.
CISDI is supplying the lines on an EPC basis and is also involved in the construction of Chongqing Steel’s dual high-speed bar line. This order was placed in April on an EPC basis and work is on schedule.
All three lines will be transformed to world-class capabilities.
