Skin pass mill 3 test-runs at FHS

Formosa Ha Tinh Steel in Vietnam saw its No. 3 skin pass mill go through test-running.
Designed and package supplied by CISDI, the unit is comprised of a rigid structure, an integrated mandrel drum and a dual-jaw coiler.
It was installed with advanced automation controls, achieved by the skin-pass profile model, width and thickness gauges, surface metering and shape roll instruments.
International travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic between China and Vietnam severely challenged the schedule.
In order to comply with pandemic safety and health control regulations, the CISDI team had to conduct simulated tests of equipment and pre-check programmes in Chongqing. This ensured many vital preparations had been made before CISDI personnel entered the site in Vietnam.
CISDI’s technical team provided round-the-clock guidance to the construction team in Vietnam.
Their efforts prevented major delays and smoothed onsite installation and commissioning.
