CISDI Group’s chairman Xuewen Xiao paid a visit to Zenith Nantong Steel, a “benchmark of the future” steel factory being created in China’s Jiangsu Province.

The project is nearing its final stages and EPC-based projects were the focus for Mr Xiao.

He led CISDI’s onsite technical assistance teams as they carried out inspections on the plants’ safety and construction progress. They visited the centralised control centre, the rolling lines, and the central water treatment, steelmaking, stockyard, solid waste treatment and ironmaking plants.

A number of meetings were staged, at which Mr Xiao took the opportunity to thank his teams and urge them on at the final stages.

“CISDI is involved in the construction of all systems at Zenith Nantong, the world’s largest greenfield steel plant and a benchmark for the Future Factory,” he said.

“We need to keep up our spirits as we work through completion, acceptance and settlement tasks. Every team must have a clear picture of the situation and be ready to solve any problems.

“We are taking a holistic approach to safety, quality and schedule control. All teams will be rooting out and solving any glitches in safety control and our safety management system encourages individuals to take responsibility and improve their own awareness of safety.”

At a meeting attended by project managers and heads of steel, information technology, thermal and environmental engineering, equipment manufacturing and administration divisions, Xiao stressed: “An engineering company could lose its competitiveness if it is weak in specialties. Our project management system will be transformed to deeply synergise with engineering specialities. It will strengthen corporate speciality development.”
