Messages from CISDI heads for 2023

From the chairman of CISDI Group

Dear friends,

On behalf of all CISDI staff, I send my best wishes for a healthier, greener and better New Year to our customers and partners around the globe.

Last year, hand-in-hand, we moved forward while also meeting the many global challenges.

Our scientific and technological innovations drove the technological advancement of world steel and sustained industrial development.

CISDI staff made concerted efforts to achieve stable business progress and joined forces with fellow traders to boost confidence in a brighter future for the industry.

The company attaches great importance to advancing the steel industry to intelligent, green, low-carbon and highly efficient levels and is continuing its all-out efforts to add new growth-drivers for sectoral transformation and upgrading:

An all-round implementation of Zenith Nantong Steel came to realisation in 2022. CISDI provided full-process services for this coastal Greenfield, optimal plant. Its systematic competitiveness has now greeted the market.

The worlds first ore proportioning and forced blending centre went operational. With CISDIs EPC-based construction and CISDI’s core tech, it is steering the global trend for port-based fine blending systems.

A stream of our core products has consistently helped steel plants pursuing transformation and upgrading by optimising their plant product mixes and competitiveness. Solutions included CISDI’s intelligent and eco-friendly stockyard, high-efficiency, low-consumption blast furnace, SACS BOF, slab caster, tubular, flat and long products rolling mills.

CISDIs intelligent manufacturing platforms at Chinas Maanshan Steel, NISCO and Shaogang were applauded for achieving marked increases in efficiency and substantial cost savings. The worlds first full-process smart steel plant on a unified digital platform and featuring lean production management has been operating for a year at Yongfeng Steels Lingang in Chinas Shandong Province. It is a demo for achieving leaner production via the introduction of digital tech. Datas potential to transform a steel plant’s production can be further tapped and more widely applied and data-use capacities can be continually enhanced.

The global steel industry has charted a course for transforming to green and low-carbon standards. CISDI has long been committed to planning a pragmatic route to implementation, carbon reduction and economy. Its world-class, low-carbon core tech system enables the company to play its part in providing full life-cycle services which are boosting the industrys green and low-carbon development:

CISDIs first H2-enriched C-recycling blast furnace for a Chinese steel plant has been created. It featured a furnace volume of 2,000 cubic metres.

The latest CISDI-AutoARC electric furnace went into operation at Dugang in Chinas Sichuan Province and met all world-class performance indicators.

An IGBT-based CISDI-SuperARC electric furnace is currently being constructed at Xianfu Steel in Chinas Yunnan Province. It will enable scrap preheating.

Chinas first salt recovery crystallisation plant was built by CISDI and is achieving zero liquid discharge.

CISDI’s expertise converted Baosteel Zhanjiang to clean energy supplied by photovoltaic power.

2022 was a fruitful year for CISDI’s solid waste treatment expertise. Application at all rotary hearth furnaces in China is currently in hand and the first RHF is now operated by CISDI.

CISDI has never hesitated to accelerate its globalisation strategy. In line with its aims, CISDI UK has now been named as the Groups overseas operations centre, consolidating its position. Regional sections will closely serve customers in their part of the globe.

Teams from CISDI HQ and its overseas offices visited a number of customer plants, winning orders from ASEAN, India, South America, Africa and Europe. Around 100 specialist engineers are dedicated to overseas CISDI project sites, thus forming a closer bond with each site’s customers and partners.

In line with the global aim of green, low-carbon development, CISDI is focused on innovation-driven low-carbon and digital, intelligent applications. Greener, smarter and super-efficient solutions are in place to meet 2023s challenges and opportunities. CISDI is perfecting its capabilities in consulting, manufacturing, intelligent platform and operations and will be fulfilling its customers’ future-oriented requirements and sustaining industrial development.

Now China’s pandemic-related travel restrictions have been lifted. CISDI is welcoming enquiries from around the world. It will be attending the METEC 2023 event, an occasion for sharing knowledge about the future of steel.

We are looking forward to meeting you in China and abroad, and wish you a Happy 2023.

Xuewen Xiao

Chairman

CISDI Group

From John Lester and CISDI UK

We at CISDI in the UK wish all our customers, suppliers, partners, friends and colleagues across the globe a happy and prosperous 2023.

Last year saw further focus and attention on reducing the carbon emissions from our industry. For some of our customers this may bring the biggest changes in production process since the introduction of the Bessemer process in 1856.

In 2023, through our CISDI CLEVER CARBON technology, we will work hand in hand with our customers world-wide, guiding them every step of the way towards achieving low-carbon goals.

Together we can be clever about carbon.

We will take all opportunities to grow and develop our business and, at the same time, growing and adding value to the businesses of our customers. We believe the New Year will be bright and we look forward to a green and prosperous 2023 bringing a sustainable future to our industry.

From Hatee Ram Pattanayak and CISDI India

2022 was indeed an opportunity for us to serve our customers in the best way possible, given international travel restrictions.

We are proud to say that CISDI, with the support of its Indian arm, met customers’ expectations for deliverables on-target - and in some cases before the set targets.

We are so grateful to all our customers and partners for their support and cooperation.

We are committed to staying highly-responsive in all situations for ongoing CISDI’s current projects at TSK, JSW, JSOL & Lloyds and for upcoming projects (which include AMNSI, JSW, JSPL, JSOL, JSL, TSL and Vedanta).

CISDI Group is now poised to contribute its leading technological expertise in smart, green and low carbon process to the development of steel-producing plants with significantly lower CO2 emissions and waste to energy recycling capabilities.

CISDI aspires to be an active partner in India’s drive to reduce total carbon emissions and to achieve projected targets for steel production in India.

With more than 70 years of experience in providing steel plant process technologies, solutions, equipment and services, CISDI will focus its technical and commercial efforts to become even more competitive in the Indian market this year.

Happy New Year 2023!

From Yong Liu and CISDI HQ’s overseas business division

We made many unforgettable memories in 2022. We managed to visit most of our clients and partners face-to-face, even though travel restrictions were still in place, and successfully delivered our products and services to our clients at a time of global instability, due to regional conflicts and extreme natural phenomena.

We became stronger and smarter at dealing with challenges, thanks to our worldwide clients and partners, as we work together to create a greener and smart steel industry.

2023 will be an exciting one; China has lifted all pandemic restrictions and fully reopened to the world and we look forward to seeing our friends from overseas. We will cherish every opportunity to work together.

From Shihong Ma and CISDI Malaysia

Staying true to CISDI Group’s globalisation strategy, CISDI Malaysia kept in close communication and maintained synergism with its ASEAN partners and customers in 2022.

We will be redoubling our marketing efforts in 2023. While strengthening ties with old and new customers in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, we will move forward with the implementation of ASSB phase II, the Wen’an and Fushengtai plants on the Belt and Road Initiative routes.

We are pledging to train and employ local workers and it is our hope that we can further boost the development of the local economy and strengthen bonds with people in the Belt and Road Initiative localities.

We wish all friends a happy, healthy and successful New Year.

From Xinbin Liu and CISDI Vietnam

2022 was an extraordinary year, the COVID-19 pandemic was still going on, and the global economy was affected by the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Consequently, the steel market encountered a cold climate from June onwards; production and marketing departments at Hoa Phat Steel and Formosa Ha Tinh Steel are under great pressure.

As always, CISDI stands closely with its customers, continuing to provide them with competitive solutions for environmental protection, energy saving and carbon reduction.

Thank you for your trust and support in CISDI over the past year, and thank you for giving CISDI opportunities, for facing difficulties side by side and for assisting CISDI when there were problems that needed to be resolved.

We will continue to bring green, low-carbon and intelligent new technologies to Vietnam's steel construction sector and assist in the development of Vietnam's steel industry.

cảm ơn!

From Xin Yan and CISDI Brazil

As the epidemic wound down in 2022, we achieved many remarkable successes with partners across the world.

The year 2023 is bound to be full of challenges as well as opportunities and we will aspire to deepen our relationships with overseas partners and continue to share our sector experience.

CISDI will continue in its quest to lead the industry with intelligent, green and low-carbon technology.

I wish all Brazilian friends a glorious New Year and good health.

From Jing Zhang and CISDI Turkey

In 2022, CISDI and our customers experienced the continued ravages of COVID-19 and the huge impact of international geo-political conflicts.

However, CISDI Group made gratifying breakthroughs into the CIS market, winning projects in Zambia, Eritrea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other countries in Africa, and continued to strengthen its market presence in Turkey.

We are confident of further success in 2023, a year in which CISDI will continue to face difficulties, but will forge ahead and create greater value for customers.
