An important CISDI global first - a full-process digital steel plant based on a unified platform - has been showcased in China’s World Metals publication.

The article featured 2022’s ten groundbreaking world steel technologies and CISDI’s new digital steel plant made the list, highlighting the company’s influential global role in intelligent steel manufacturing.

World Metals is Chinese steel’s most authoritative medium. It even outranks screening, network vote-casting and expert evaluation. The article covered major technological breakthroughs and innovations throughout all main steel manufacturing processes.

It detailed how CISDI had launched its full-metallurgical-process smart plant solutions based on its industrial internet platform in August 2022.

These solutions have been applied at the Yongfeng Lingang plant in China’s Shandong Province, which is now the world’s first full-process digital plant based on the unified industrial internet platform.

Smart applications in 15 categories have been developed on Lingang’s platform, covering all aspects of blast furnace ironmaking and its upstream, melting and rolling, production, equipment, energy, logistics, and safety and environmental protection.

Over 2,000 smart application functions tap data’s potential and fully unleash its values, connecting and co-ordinating production processes. This value-creation evolves from partial areas to the entire plant and the full process.

The article explained that, by combining with Yongfeng Group’s lean production management, CISDI was able to launch a global first - a digital, lean production management model at Lingang.

The article detailed how production costs and key performance indicators can now be automatically and punctually calculated. All production scheduling across the plant and every member of staff can find and define a problem in the data, correct it and consistently improve their work by collecting and consolidating their experiences.

It brings closed-loop, consistent optimisations into the plant’s lean production management, leading to excellent cost savings and production enhancement.

The Lingang plant has reduced its costs per tonne of crude steel by 14.51 US dollars, compared with the Yongfeng HQ plant. Lingang’s per capita output has exceeded 1,500 tonnes a year.
